Isn't the current dismal scenario with the airlines and the reading between the lines by the government policy maker enough to at least start off the process of rationalization.<br />On the behind the picture service providers, like minded associated business till then should firm up national roll out plans for offering alternative uniform products and services in the commodity level to maximize operational efficiency or should I say bring back the businesses into profits.Pratim Barthakurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09594437877668169033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10550056.post-34223543771626592482012-05-08T23:18:12.682+05:302012-05-08T23:18:12.682+05:30Hi Vejay, good article with good analysis. As you rightly say, the external factors indicate a tremendous opportunity for airline industry in India, but the policies and wrong priorities of the airlines in India has contributed to the current situation in India. The Govt will have a huge rule to play to get this backAustinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01071932295268057048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10550056.post-49521597163547485492012-05-07T22:56:37.309+05:302012-05-07T22:56:37.309+05:30Vimal, The frivolity in the way airlines are handl...Vimal, The frivolity in the way airlines are handled by the key stake holders is saddening. I think each of the stake holders are to blame for the mess the situation is in right now.Vejay Anandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01887348645174064856noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10550056.post-90307899606642083792012-05-07T20:40:45.402+05:302012-05-07T20:40:45.402+05:30Vejay, nice post. Intentionally or otherwise, your post is recommending all parties to stop focusing on the core and to expand into other parts of, or related strains of, the value chain. For me, while the government shoulders a large portion of the blame for the economic mess that the industry is in, the airlines also play a significant role in causing problems unto themselves. Whether it is operational inefficiency or poor purchasing techniques, or simply over-paying for services and goods, many airlines seem mired in bad decision-making. Most don't seem to be able to tell a consistent story, and equally, there is a deep-rooted culture of taking advantage or receiving favours; I knew of a former judge of the high court who demanded free copies of the newspaper be delivered from Bombay to Delhi just for his personal consumption. The ecosystem as you refer to it is one that is dominated by players for whom the furthest thing from their minds is "customer expectation" and providing a "service". If they were truly intent on such things, it is arguable if the situation would be as bad as today.virgovimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09648006941964320527noreply@blogger.com
